Weigh up the consequences

There’s a bit here today which says almost half of our cats and dogs are now officially overweight.

A study's found nine out of ten owners are killing their pets by feeding them cakes, biscuits and yoghurts.

Being obese means the animals can find it harder to walk and lead to conditions like diabetes.

Just the same as it can in humans. Type 2 diabetes…isn’t that it?

There’s nothing worse than a beer keg dog….you know they kind I mean.

Besides, I really don’t think they can handle anything that sweet over a long period of time.

As a farmer once said to me pointing to his collie…."You keep gie'ing a dog chocolate….eventually …one day…it’s airse will jist fa’ oot."

Lovingly put….but you get the gist.

Anything on Tee V?

People have said to me before that animals can’t make out pictures on the telly….but it used to be one of our dog’s party tricks to go nuts for sports on the box.

I thought maybe it was crowd noise got him excited….but he did the same on mute. Bailey goes nuts for sports, beer commercials and used to run up and try to lick the screen when there were ads for McDonalds or Burger King on.

And then we put him and his sister….Bracken, outside the house to live in a big kennel and run…which they adore…but it crossed my mind Bailey might miss the home comforts a bit…and in particular the telly….so it was no surprise yesterday when we were walking around the woods…next to Torphins golf course…..and I turned round to see Bracken at my heel, but Bailey was nowhere to be seen.

I eventually found him sitting patiently watching golfers teeing off…..probably thinking…nice widescreen…it’s like you’re actually there.
